Technical Training

Empowering Women Through Renewable Energy Training.

On February 2nd to 12th, 2025, Necsom Technical Institute (NTI) proudly organized and delivered a two-week Solar Entrepreneurship Training in Garowe, Puntland. The program brought together 16 motivated female trainees for an intensive and transformative learning experience, focused on solar energy systems, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business practices.

🌞 Purpose and Objectives

This specialized training program aimed to:

  • Equip women with practical and theoretical knowledge in solar energy technologies.
  • Enhance entrepreneurial skills tailored to the renewable energy sector.
  • Promote sustainable livelihoods and women’s economic empowerment.
  • Support the broader goal of clean energy adoption and green jobs creation in Puntland.

Through a mix of classroom-based learning and hands-on practical sessions, participants gained in-depth understanding of:

  • Solar panel installation and maintenance,
  • Energy storage systems,
  • Business planning,
  • Market analysis, and
  • Customer engagement in the solar industry.

🎉 Opening Ceremony: A Strong Start

The program officially commenced on 2nd February 2025 with an Opening Ceremony attended by:

  • Representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA),
  • NIS Foundation,
  • QCRE, and
  • NTI management and instructors.

Stakeholders delivered inspiring remarks, emphasizing the importance of gender inclusion in the renewable energy sector and reaffirming their support for NTI’s capacity-building initiatives.


🛠️ Training Activities: Learning in Action

Over the course of the training, participants engaged in:

  • Interactive theoretical lectures covering solar technology fundamentals,
  • Hands-on lab work and field exercises, including real-time solar panel installations,
  • Business development sessions, guiding trainees through the steps of starting and managing a solar-related enterprise,
  • Peer-to-peer learning and group projects, fostering teamwork and leadership skills,
  • Mentorship opportunities with experienced entrepreneurs and solar technicians.

These well-rounded activities ensured that every trainee left the program not only with technical skills but also the confidence and vision to apply them in the field.


🎓 Closing Ceremony: Celebrating Success

The program concluded on a high note with a Closing Ceremony held on 12th February 2025. The event celebrated the remarkable progress and dedication of the trainees. Each participant was awarded a Training Certificate in recognition of their successful completion of the course.

During the ceremony, NTI, MoLSA, NIS, and QCRE reaffirmed their commitment to:

  • Supporting women-led enterprises,
  • Encouraging youth engagement in green technologies, and
